Android M

How to install Android M on Nexus devices

Introduction

Android M is the latest version of Android after Lollipop and google announced that Android M is available for Nexus devices. If you have Nexus 5,6,9 or player then you enjoy preview version of Android M.Today i'm telling you about how to install Android M on any Nexus device step-by-step.

Step 1: Enable OEM Unlock (Nexus 6 Users Only)

To enable OEM unlock in Nexus 6, go to setting and scroll down then click on Developer Option, you'll see OEM unlock option, tick on OEM unlock.

step 2:Put Your Nexus in Bootloader Mode

To open your device into Bootloader mode, first shutdown your device and then press power button and volume down button simultaneously. After some times you'll see an android like figure on your screen then suddenly connect uour device to the PC through USB cable.

step 3:Install the Android SDK on your Computer

To install Android SDK on your computer visit to this link.

The install process will vary depending on your operating system. Windows users can simply launch the EXE file to install the full Android SDK, which will be saved in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\ folder. Linux and Mac users will have to extract the contents of the ZIP to a folder that can be accessed easily. Take note of this folder's location, as you will need to copy some files here later.

From here, if you're using a Linux or Mac machine, open a terminal window and change directories to the /android-sdk-linux/tools/ or /android-sdk-macosx/tools/ folder that you just extracted. Next up, type android sdk (Linux) or ./android sdk (Mac) to launch the SDK Manager.

After that, you'll need to download the Platform Tools package if you're using a Linux or Mac computer. Select the "Android SDK Platform-tools" option, then click the install button to take care of that.

step 4:Install ABD and Fastboot on your computer

To be able to fully interact with your Nexus, you'll have to make sure you have the ADB and Fastboot drivers installed on your system.

Windows Users:

If you own a Windows PC, you can download the drivers at thislink . Just run the file, then follow the prompts, and you'll be good to go.

Linux Users:

If you're a Linux user, download and extract this zipfile, then run the script with Terminal.

step 5:Download Android M preview on your Computer

Now, you are able to download factory images, just download it by clicking on yhis link by choosing your device.

Step 6:Move the factory images to the platform tools folder

This factory image file is a set of nested archives, so extract the contents of the first archive, then you'll find another archive. Extract that one as well, then you'll find a folder.

Head into this folder, then extract the contents of the ZIP file that you'll find inside. At this point, copy all of the remaining files in this folder.

Next, head to the "android-sdk" folder, then the "platform-tools" folder inside of it. After that, paste all of the factory image files into this folder.

step 7:Install the Android M preview Build

At this point, you're ready to install the Android M preview build. To begin, open a command prompt window, then change directories until you arrive at the "/android-sdk/platform-tools/" folder where you've pasted the factory images.

Next, type fastboot devices and hit enter to verify that your Nexus is connected properly. Note that Mac users will have to add a "./" to the beginning of all Fastboot commands (e.g. ./fastboot devices). If it spits out a series of letters and numbers in response, you're good to go.

If you haven't flashed factory images on your device before today, you'll have to unlock your Bootloader at this time. Type fastboot oem unlock and hit enter to take care of that. On your phone, press the volume up button to verify that you'd like to unlock your bootloader, then wait about a minute until the process has finished.

Now you're finally ready to flash the Android M preview build. Type flash-all and hit enter, then the process should start automatically.

step 8: Wait for Reboot and Enjoy Android M

It will take 5 or 10 minutes to complete, but when it's done, your phone will automatically reboot. If it doesn't, you can type fastboot reboot to do so manually.

At this point, it's safe to disconnect the USB cable and try out Android M. Some of the key features with this new release include automatic app backup, a granular permission control interface, as well as a new mobile payments system.

Step 9: Troubleshooting

If the flash-all script is not working on your computer, you'll have to install the images manually. To make things a bit easier, head to the "platform-tools" folder where you've stored the factory images. From here, rename the "boot-xxxx-xxx.img" file to "boot.img" instead. After that, rename the "radiio-xxxx-xxx.img" file to "radio.img" in the same manner.

Next, open a terminal window and change directories to the "platform-tools" folder. From here, type fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img and hit enter. Follow that up by typing fastboot reboot-bootloader to run the rest of these commands with the newer bootloader version.

When that process has finished, type fastboot flash radio radio.img and hit enter. After that's done, enter fastboot flash boot boot.img to install the new kernel. Then, to install the new recovery image on your device, type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and hit enter.

Finally, you can flash the system image, which makes up the core of Android. Type fastboot flash system system.img and hit enter. This one will take as much as 5 minutes to install, so wait until the process has finished before moving on.

When that's finished, use the volume buttons on your Nexus to highlight the "Start" option in the bootloader menu, then press the power button to boot your phone. Within a few minutes, Android M should greet you with its new lock screen. If you experience any minor bugs or quirks after using the manual install method, a quick factory reset should iron out all issues.

DESIGN
Design is where Yu is hoping Yuphoria will stand out from other budget smartphones. Yuphoria has a metal frame, a power button between the volume rockers. Also the camera is right in the middle of the rear cover with a ‘saturn-ring’ design, which will remind you of Lumia devices.
I would say the smartphone is a lot bulkier than I imagined it would be. But the Gold and White version, looks better than any Rs 6,999 device, and it has an exclusive feel.
It takes a while getting used to the power button being between the two volume rockers, but I think it is convenient to have all the buttons on one side.

SCREEN
Coming to the display, the Yuphoria’s 5 inch, 720p display is bright and reproduces colors well. However, I found the screen to be highly reflective, which could be problematic to use under sunlight.

CAMERA

On the camera front, the device sports an 8MP rear snapper and a 5MP front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

BATTERY

Yuphoria has heating issues. The battery for me lasted a little over 10 hours with regular usage, which includes calls, browsing on social networks and reading extensively. The battery power saver mode left me impressed because it ensured that my phone did not die even though I continued browsing for well over 45 minutes without charge. Charging the Yuphoria does take time and I found that more than an hour after leaving it for a charge, it was still on 60 percent...

When it comes to smartphones, all conversations should start with the HTC One M8 ($649, £549 and AU$899 off-contract) and the iPhone 6 (starting at $199 on-contract, £539 and AU$549 off-contract).
Attempting to enter the arena of the big dogs, Asus' new Zenfone 2 (starting at $200, £120, AU$210 for 2GB RAM) is a handy device with a few neat tricks up its sleeve.
The HTC One M8, which we've voted the best smartphone in the world , boasts a Snapdragon 801 processor that functions at 2.5ghz, which makes it perfect for gaming, movies, photography and web browsing. At only 5.64 ounces (160g) and 5.76 inches tall (146.4mm), the Full HD HTC One M8 is a well-designed, Android-based device that accomplishes everything you'll need a smartphone to accomplish.

On the same end of the spectrum, the iPhone 6 and its iOS 8 operating system are a pleasure to use. Featuring a 4.7-inch (119.3mm) retina HD screen, and an A8 processor that operates at 1.8ghz, the iPhone one of the prettiest and fastest smartphones on the planet. It doesn't hurt that it only weighs 4.55 ounces (129 grams) either.
Design
The new Lollipop-based Asus phone features a hard plastic chassis that will be available in multiple colors in the US, including silver and red. It features a 5.5 inch (139.7mm) Full HD Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen and weighs a hefty 6oz (170g). At only six inches long (152.5mm) the ZenFone 2 shouldn't weigh as much as it does, but you'll hardly notice a difference when compared to the HTC One M8. If weight is a major factor for you, the iPhone is a much lighter choice.

The silver bezel features a shiny matte finish along the back of the phone and along the bottom edge of the front. The front upper and side panels are built with shiny black plastic that is reminiscent of older iPhones. Your home, back and window buttons are tiny and unobtrusive at the bottom front of the phone.
At 0.43 inches (10.9mm) thick, the Zenfone is noticeably thicker than the iPhone 6 (0.27 inches, 6.9mm) and the HTC One M8 (0.37 inches, 9.4mm). Partly to blame for the Zenfone's size problem is its replaceable back panel, which allows users to swap out SIM cards..

The Zenfone's battery runs at 3000 mAh. Similar milliamp phones, like the Oppo Find 7A, feature six-hour battery lives. Asus refused to give an estimate for the Zenfone, but they did say that - thanks to Intel's Fast Charging Technology - it can charge from 0-60% in 40 minutes, which is in line with the fastest-charging phones in the world. Unfortunately, the battery can't be replaced.
Despite the size and weight issues, it's definitely an attractive device, especially when you factor in the multiple available color options.
Features
Remember those neat tricks I mentioned? Well, the Zenfone has a time-saving trick that most of you will love. From the phone's locked desktop, you can scribble a command (such as the letter C) onto the screen and the device will automatically open the pre-determined application. If you draw a C, you'll unlock the camera. If you draw a W you'll unlock the web browser.
You can set these commands to whatever application you'd like: so if you never use your web browser but you always use Facebook, you can set it up so that if you draw a W you'll see your Facebook feed. Unfortunately, you can only set five commands. But that's a cool start.
Another innovative feature is the phone's double-tap to shrink command. By tapping your thumb against the screen you'll be able to shrink the size of your desktop to 60% of its normal size. This is ideal for one-handed smartphone use, which can get clumsy when trying to reach the farthest corners of your screen.
Photographers will absolutely love the Zenfone's 13 megapixel camera, which is darn good for a smartphone. The iPhone features an 8mp main camera, while the HTC One M8 features a disappointing 4mp camera. Neither holds a candle to the Nokia Lumia 1020, which sports a 41-megapixel camera - the best in the business.
The Zenfone runs a 64-bit Intel Quadcore Z3580 processor that tops out at 2.3 GHz - just slower than the HTC One M8, but faster than the iPhone 6. It's a zippy phone that will accomplish most of your business and personal tasks with ease.
Early verdict
The Zenfone 2 packs a lot of cool features into one speedy little device. It's easy on the eyes, nice to touch, and offers time- and space-saving features that make it a joy to use. Its 13-megapixel camera will make shutterbugs happy, and its fast-charging battery won't leave you in a lurch on getaways. However, the Zenfone 2 is a bit heavier and thicker than the iPhone and it doesn't run as fast as the HTC One M8, so it will probably find itself sitting near the lower end of the upper echelon of new devices.

You should be picky when it comes to buying a smartphone. After all, you two are going to be doing everything together, from capturing hundreds of photos and playing games to social networking, texting and email. Oh yeah, you'll be making phone calls, too. But with multiple operating systems, screen sizes and carriers all screaming for your attention, picking the right device can feel like an endless maze. But it doesn't have to. Use these seven tips to make the right call on your next smartphone.
1. Choose the Right OS
And then there were three. With BlackBerry struggling, most consumers are now deciding among Android, iOS (iPhone) and Windows Phone. Here's a quick breakdown of the platforms' strengths and weaknesses.

Google's OS isn't the most popular smartphone platform for no reason. Compared to iOS and Windows Phone, there's a much wider array of hardware options from several manufacturers (Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, ZTE, etc.) in multiple sizes. Android is also much more open than iOS, which means smartphone makers can more easily innovate on top of Google's software. That's why a Samsung Galaxy S4 or Note 3, for example, can run two apps on the screen at once, and a Moto X can respond to your voice without you having to touch the phone.
With more than 1 million apps, the Google Play store has pretty much everything you need, but Apple's App Store tends to get some hot apps and games first. And while we like that Android is so flexible and customizable, some interfaces can be cluttered and/or difficult to navigate.
iOS 7 represents a fairly major overhaul for Apple, with a cleaner look, improved multitasking and a new Control Center for quickly changing settings. Some aspects of the update are confusing, such as the Notification Center with three separate tabs, but overall, iOS remains the most intuitive smartphone platform. Apple also benefits from having the best selection of high-quality apps and games (though Android is narrowing the gap). Siri has improved, and the new iTunes Radio is definitely a plus.

Thanks, in large part, to Nokia's well-received Lumia phones, more people are paying attention to Microsoft's OS. The platform boasts a dynamic interface with Live Tiles that display updates, and it's easy to resize and rearrange these tiles to customize the experience. Other benefits include Xbox games, video and music, as well as Office and Outlook integration. The Windows Phone Store recently surpassed 200,000 apps, and the collection now includes Instagram, but Microsoft's platform still has about one-fifth of the apps available for Android and iOS.

2. Get the Right Size: Phablet or No Phablet?
Big-screen phones are growing on shoppers. In fact, phablets (phones with displays 5 inches or larger) now account for about a quarter of all smartphones sold. Nevertheless, the iPhone 5s, which sports a 4-inch screen, is the best-selling smartphone in the U.S. A smaller display allows for a more compact design. But if you want something bigger, you'll want to opt for an Android or Windows Phone handset.
The 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gives you a lot more real estate for watching movies, playing games and enjoying photos. The trade-off is that the phone isn't easy to operate with one hand. Phones with displays even larger than this, such as the HTC One Max (5.9 inches) and Nokia Lumia 1520 (6 inches) tend to be heavier and can be a tight fit for front pockets. But some are willing to live with the larger size, especially those who don't want to carry a separate tablet.

3. Pay Attention to These Specs
Processor
A phone's processor is the brain of the device, and a fast one will enable you to open apps quickly, play games smoothly and even edit video. Today's state-of-the-art chip for Android and Windows Phones is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800. (The 805 is coming soon.) This CPU offers swift multitasking and high-powered graphics in devices such as the Galaxy Note 3 and Lumia 1520.
The Snapdragon 600 (inside the HTC One) and S4 Pro (in the Moto X) are also very capable. On cheaper phones, you'll find the Snapdragon 400 CPU, which offers fair performance for everyday tasks but isn't designed for more intensive activities. For example, the Galaxy S4 Mini with this CPU took 7 minutes and 19 seconds to transcode a 1080p video clip, compared to just 5:15 for the Snapdragon 800-powered Galaxy Note

3.For iOS, Apple's A7 chip inside the iPhone 5s offers 64-bit power and about double the performance and graphics of its A6 CPU (in the iPhone 5c). That's just one reason why you should invest in Apple's higher-end device.
RAM
The amount of system memory plays a significant role in how well a smartphone performs. Today's flagship devices offer 2GB to 3GB of RAM, while lower-end to midrange phones get away with 1 GB to 1.5 GB. If you want to load applications from memory faster and switch between them faster, more RAM is better.
Screen
brightness_chart_NEW
The size of the screen definitely matters, but so do the brightness, sharpness, color and viewing angles. Right now, 1080p screens (1920 x 1080 pixels) are the sharpest you'll find on smartphones. However, we've seen some 720p displays (1280 x 720 pixels), such as the one on the Moto X, deliver fantastic image quality. We highly recommend putting the smartphone in your hand to evaluate the viewing angles; if the screen washes out when you tilt the device, think twice about that purchase.
When testing smartphones, we hit every one with a light meter to get a lux rating, so be sure to read our reviews to find out how each handset stacks up. As far as screen technology, AMOLED panels (found on many Samsung phones) tend to produce very rich and saturated colors, while LCDs tend to offer more realistic hues. It really comes down to personal preference.
Storage and Expansion
Given that you'll store everything from photos and music to videos and apps on your smartphone, opt for as much internal memory up front as you can. Although 16GB is fairly standard, we suggest 32GB of storage so you don't run out of room. The 32GB iPhone 5s, for example, costs $299. But you'll also find some cheaper options with that much space, such as the HTC One; it starts at $199 for 32GB.
It's becoming a lot harder to find, but if you like the idea of expandable storage, choose a device that has a microSD card slot, such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, Note 3 and Mega.
4. Get the Best Camera Possible (and Don't Obsess Over Megapixels)
camera lead
Just when you thought the megapixel war was over, there's now a handful of smartphones with 20-MP cameras or higher — and more are certainly on the way. However, the quality of both the sensor and the images is more important. For instance, the iPhone 5s has an 8-MP camera, but its new sensor allows for bigger pixels and, therefore, sharper-looking photos.
camera features
Also look for camera features that you'll actually use. The Galaxy S4 and Note 3 both sport a nifty Eraser mode feature that filters out photobombers from your images. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has prosumer-grade manual controls to help you get the best shot in all sorts of conditions. Optical image stabilization, which steadies your shots to reduce blur, is found in the LG G2 and Lumia 1020.

5. Don't Settle for Low Battery Life
battery_life_NEW_2
One way to tell how much juice your smartphone will provide on a charge is to take a look at the battery capacity. If you care about endurance, the closer you get to 3,000 mAh (milliamp hours) — or above the better. For example, the LG G2's 3,000-mAh battery lasted a whopping 13 hours and 44 minutes over T-Mobile's network on the LAPTOP Battery Test, which involves continuous Web surfing over 4G LTE on 40 percent brightness. In contrast, the Galaxy S4's 2,600-mAh battery for the same carrier lasted 6:41. The average phone lasts...
6. Select the Best Carrier for Your Needs (and Budget)

Smartphone newcomer OnePlus has a new phone in the works, which is being referred to as the OnePlus Two. is likely to be priced at 2499 Yuan (approximately Rs. 25,000).

The company has also hinted at the possibility of a wearable device being released in the near future, and new reports are talking about a OnePlus One Lite smartphone. We’ve put together everything we know so far about OnePlus’ plans into this handy roundup post.

The information was given out by OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu, who asked his followers on Weibo to give price expectations for the upcoming devices.

After a number of varied responses from his followers, Zuohu posted, “2499 Yuan seems to be a reasonable price”. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the OnePlus Two will definitely come at this price, but OnePlus’ pricing history for products wouldn’t make it a long shot

Further, the OnePlus Two is rumoured to carry the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, along with a 5.5 inch QHD display and 4GB of RAM. The device is also rumoured to have a 16MP rear camera, which is better than its current generation version. The OnePlus Two will of course run on the company’s brand new Oxygen OS

Two has been rumoured for some time now, but the company has kept its mouth shut about the device. Recently, OnePlus confirmed that the next version would come in the third quarter of this year. Meanwhile, the OnePlus One continues to be one of the most talked about smartphones of recent times.
